PATH LAB — ‘UN-EARTH’ Video Installation

'UN EARTH' Ceremonial Video Installation for PATH LAB

Releasing ‘𝐔𝐍-𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐇’ - a 2 Min. Video Installation for PATH LAB, officially launching a series of sculptural wax bodies by German designer Janine Grosche.

This video reflects the ceremonial act of lighting a fire based on ancient germanic traditions dating back to pagan times where lighting monumental bonfires that burn through the night became a ritual that is designed to release the heaviness of winter and help the earth to usher spring. Fires are considered a symbol of fertility and rebirth, with the ashes from it spread to fertilise the soil.

The video features riverside ceremonial offerings as sacred rituals that are inviting the awakening of earth energies as well a contrasting rather dark atmosphere in industrial installation of floating wax candles.

Energies are ‘un-earthed’ and released through the flames of the sculptural wax bodies as earth artefacts that are burned throughout the video. The series of wax sculptures reflect pre-existing shapes and forms found on earth, as relics from nature they keeps us rooted and grounded.
